"What sets an engineering firm apart."
  Sustainable Design

The United States Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design(LEED) rating system was established to encourage designs that would minimize the local environmental impact of the ecosystem and make efficient use of the surrounding land, air, water and energy.

The design staff at BGR Engineers, which includes LEED Certified Professionals, is dedicated to sustainable design guidelines. Katrina became the first engineer or architect in the Kansas City area to become LEED Accredited, not because it was “the thing to do”, but because she truly believed in their ideals. It is these ideals and beliefs which influence all of our projects.

“Sustainable Design” is only achieved through constant interaction of the design team, contractor, and owner. One small change by one discipline may result in disastrous affects for another. Our ability to “see” the project from all aspects allows us to provide the necessary feedback to avoid these complications. We utilize state of the art programs and design tools to assist us in determining system and building designs. It also allows us to experiment with new and changing technologies. Too often, we become comfortable with what we have done in the past in lieu of looking foward to the future. We believe every project starts with a clean piece of paper, and every project possesses a unique design solution.

As we are all aware, what worked today will be improved on tomorrow. We as design professionals must be willing to embrace these changes and improvements. We at BGR Consulting Engineers have.
