The 62,000 sq.ft. Woodland Elementary School in Olathe, Kan., achieved LEED 2.2 NC Silver Certification.  The design used the district’s existing prototype elementary school and added sustainable concepts.  The $9,000,000 facility is designed to perform 43 percent better than ASHRAE-90.1 baseline. Water usage was reduced by approximately 29 percent through the use of low flow fixtures. The lighting design incorporates classroom occupancy sensors and dual level switching that allow the occupants to select two light levels.
