The $24 million renovation of the historic Vitagraph Film Exchange Building in downtown Kansas City has been submitted for LEED Silver certification. The four-story building includes office space on each of the floors as well as 1,000 sq.ft. of retail on the first floor. Besides restoring the original Vitagraph building, the project included a two-level, 40-space garage with a rooftop garden and deck. New mechanical and electrical systems were installed and the building envelope was upgraded.

The building utilizes a water-cooled mechanical system coupled with energy recovery to reduce energy costs. It also uses high efficiency lighting throughout the building and garage. BGR Consulting Engineers provided all mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering for the building and streetscape upgrades. We also provided energy modeling and commissioning services for the building.
